As the only member in my family who did not pursue a Mathematics major at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), I was excited to have an opportunity to be part of the Institution in a way that fit my artistic skillset. What started as a fundraising initiative evolved into something more engaging: a collection of illustrations that, like MIT's famous hacks, rewarded closer inspection and celebrated the unexpected intersections of technical brilliance and creative mischief.
While MIT's global reputation centers on academic excellence and groundbreaking innovation, I discovered a delightful contradiction: the university's rich tradition of elaborate practical jokes, or "hacks." This playful spirit became my inspiration, leading me to embed hidden narratives within each illustration—a creative homage to the institution's unique culture. Each piece captures a moment in MIT's living history, turning iconic campus locations and shared experiences into visual stories of the MIT community.
