During my time at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, I had the privilege of having a studio situated along the downtown riverfront. From this third-floor vantage point, I could watch the captivating evening lighting ceremony of WaterFire Providence®–an ongoing installation spanning the three rivers of downtown Providence RI created by Barnaby Evans–or take a stroll down through the riverbank to sit and watch the flaming braziers up close.
Inspired by my experiences, this handmade flip book aimed to capture these memorable nights. Flipping through the pages represents the journey of strolling through the river walks of the city during the event, through the city, along the riverbanks, until the final flickering light went out.
